Alistair B. HAYWARD

About the Book

A touch reveals his secrets… But her first glimpse is of his next victim. Margot Burnett’s psychic gift is both a blessing and a curse. Through touch, she sees the deepest secrets of her clients: a power she hides well as she maintains a peaceful work-life balance, running her small Santa Monica salon. But when a charming man sits in her chair for the first time, one touch exposes his darkest secret—a gruesome truth that haunts her with visions of his victims.

Now, Margot is the only one who knows the face of the Hollywood Butcher, the brutal serial killer scorching Santa Monica’s streets with sick terror. As the killer grows bolder, Margot must confront her fears, risking her new relationship with Detective Milly Flynn to stop the Butcher before he strikes again. But telling Milly the impossible truth could destroy their fragile romance, and brand Margot as a lunatic… or an accomplice.

Echoes of a Killer is a dark, gripping psychological thriller, perfect for crime fans who love elements of creeping, supernatural dread.

If you like a good horror about killers then you have to put this one on your list. This was different from what I expected with the psychic aspect and I was a little iffy on if I’d be interested but the chapters that involved Margot and her ability were some of my favorites. This is the third book I’ve read by this author and I can honestly say none of his books have been the type where I pick it up, read it, move on to the next, and never think of it again. Alistair has such a unique way of writing that you can’t help but become engrossed in reading. I always go through a rollercoaster of emotions, some I wasn’t expecting, and actually feel something for the characters in his books. His books are not for everyone as they are dark but they have a way of holding you hostage until you finish. Then once you’re finished the characters and details will quietly haunt your mind until his next book is released. Thank you to the author for allowing me the opportunity to read the ARC of this one. I can’t wait to see what you come up with next.

This book was an absolute nail biter! I absolutely loved the concept, very original. While some scenes were rather graphic, they were well written with the right amount of tension and suspense. While reading, I was actually thinking this would make an amazing movie!

If there is one book I could convince you to add to your tbr this year, please let it be Echoes of a Killer. Alistair continues to exceed my expectations, and I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to read this as an arc. This book will probably be one of my top reads of the year, and it’s only January.

Echoes of a Killer by Alistair B. Hayward is a dark, psychological thriller that lingered long after I finished reading the final page. A story that twists together suspense, one’s personal memories and the unsettling idea that the past is never truly forgotten or in our past. The different layers of exposing truth, entangled secrets, trauma, and deception keep me on the edge of my seat. Hayward’s writing built a sense of tension, drawing me into a world that feels both realistic and off-balance at the same time. In my opinion, Echoes of a Killer by Alistair B. Hayward is a well written, thought-provoking thriller. I recommend this novel to anyone who loves the twists and turns of psychological thriller.

This book had me screaming as I read! Imagine with just one touch you can hear echoes of a person's life. If the person is kind, you see beautiful images. Now Imagine the person you touched is evil...this is the gift/curse that Margo is given. ..and she is a hairdresser. This book is for anyone who loves horror, true crime, or thrillers!

What an incredible book, so well written with some twists from the very first page. This kept me on my toes even when the tide made me want to sit. An absolute must read if you’re into thrillers with an air of sci-fi.

I read a LOT of psychological thrillers so for something to actually feel different it must really stand out. This one did because I haven’t read anything like it before

What truly stood out to me was Hayward's ability to delve into Margot’s psyche. He portrays her feminine spirit with authenticity and grace, a rarity that many male authors struggle to capture. His insight into her emotional landscape enriches the narrative, making it all the more compelling.

Man oh, man! I wish there were more than 5 stars to give! This is the first time ever I would rate a psychological book so high; I'm more of a dark romance girl myself. Alister knows what he is doing when he writes, keeping you pulled in and literally on the edge of your seat! Trust me when I say you have to read this to get the full effect! Must read! Highly highly highly recommend!!! 👌 perfection!!!
